University Steals Federal Funding
As if the local economy in Eugene, Oregon wasn’t bad enough; it has been discovered that the University of Oregon’s supervisors allowed 15 workers permission to claim unearned income in the aspects of extra work hours and even over time. This was not a one time occurrence. This has been reported as a problem that has been repeated over the time period of three years. The UO’s Institute of Neuroscience has “pencil whipped” the department’s payroll many times from April of 2010 to March of 2013. It was found by the state audit. They took funds from the federal grants, which infuriates the local residents due to the federal funding for assistant programs being decreased due to lack of federal funding.
